On defense, linebacker Khalil Mack racked up 8+ sacks during his past five seasons. Linebacker Roquan Smith had 100+ tackles during the last two seasons.

Detroit Lions

Detroit finished the 2019 season with a disappointing 3-12-1 season.

The Lions QB returned after playing only eight games in 2019 due to a back injury. Key offensive players included wide receivers Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay and tight end T.J. Hockenson.

The Lions ramped up their defense during the offseason by adding outside linebacker Jamie and defensive tackle Nick Williams. They also picked up Duron Harmon from the Patriots.

Chicago Bears

The Bears entered the game with a 5-6 overall record and 2-3 in home games. The Super Bowl 20 winners defeated the Lions 27-23 during the first week of the NFL season.

The Bears dropped their fifth game last week by losing to the Green Bay Packers 41-25. The Bears tried to roar back after being down 41-10 through the third quarter.

QB Mitchell Trubisky made his first start after a Week 3 injury. He threw three touchdown passes but committed three turnovers.

RB David Montgomery had a 2020 season-high 143 scrimmage yards, including 103 rushing and a TD reception last week.

The struggling Bears were ranked 29th in the league in scoring, averaging just 19.6 points per game.

Their ground attack was one of the main reasons. For the 2020 season, the “Windy City” team ranked 27th in the NFL, averaging just 96.6 rushing yards per game.

The Bears also ranked last in the NFL in rushing TDs with just two during the entire season.

In the Bears-Packers game, WR Allen Robinson led the Bears with eight receptions, 74 passing yards, and two TDs.

On defense, linebacker Khalil Mack racked up seven sacks during his last eight home games.

The Bears’ injury report listed several players as questionable, including:

  • Quarterback Nick Foles (hip)
  • Defensive End Akiem Hicks (hamstring)
  • Wide Receiver Allen Robinson (knee)

Meanwhile, linebacker James Vaughters (knee) was ruled out.

Under Head Coach Matt Nagy, the Bears won the last five contests versus the Lions.

Detroit Lions

Detroit faced Chicago with a 4-7 overall record and a 3-3 road record.

The Lions lost to the Houston Texans 41-25, going 1-4 in five games on Thanksgiving Day.

After the loss, the Lions fired general manager Bob Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia. Patricia racked up a 13-29-1 record during the past 2+ seasons.

As reported on some NFL podcasts, offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell took over as Detroit’s interim head coach.

The Lions defense was one of the main factors causing the losses to pile up. Over those five games, Detroit gave up 32.6 points per game and more yards per carry while on the road.

Bears vs. Lions: How to Bet on Games

Here are some of the different ways you can bet on the Bears vs. Lions games:

Proposition Bet: A prop bet can be on a particular game event, although it’s more often on an individual player in the game.

For example, you can pick which QB throws the most touchdowns or interceptions in the Arizona Cardinals vs. Atlanta Falcons matchup. You can also pick the Jacksonville Jaguars or Kansas City Chiefs to score the game’s first TD.

Parlays: This multiple-leg bet is popular in pro sports gambling like the NBA, MLB, and NFL betting. You have to win each leg to win the whole bet. Parlays are more challenging to win than single bets, but they offer bigger payouts.

Moneyline: You must pick the game’s winner or loser in this straight-up bet. An example is selecting the winner or loser in the Tennessee Titans vs. Las Vegas Raiders matchup.

Point Spread:  The number of points by which a team wins or loses determines this bet. A minus sign represents the favorite team, and a plus sign represents the underdog team. Here is an example:

New Orleans Saints (-14) vs. Seattle Seahawks (+14)

The Saints are favored by two touchdowns, while the Seahawks are 14-point underdogs.

Point Total: This bet is also known as the over/under bet. It projects the combined number of points the two teams score during the game.

For example, bettors can pick over or under the total in Vikings vs. Eagles at 45.
