Raiders-Cowboys: All-Time Series

The Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys met 12 times between 1974 and 2017. The NFC East team Cowboys and the AFC West team Raiders won six games each in those years. 

First Meeting

The Raiders and the Cowboys first met on December 4, 1974, at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum in California. In the first quarter, Dallas started strong with a six-point lead over Las Vegas. 

The two competitive teams tied in the third quarter, but the Raiders ultimately won the matchup.  Las Vegas completed the 1974 campaign with a 27-23 victory over Dallas and an impressive 12-2 record in that year’s NFL season.

Super Bowl Championships

The Las Vegas Raiders won three Super Bowl championships: 

  • Super Bowl XI: The Raiders dominated the Minnesota Vikings, 34-14.
  • Super Bowl XV: Las Vegas became the first NFL team to claim a championship as a wild card from the playoffs. 
  • Super Bowl XVIII: The Raiders shamed the Washington Football Team with a blowout victory, 38-9. 

Dallas Cowboys 

The Dallas Cowboys won five Super Bowls overall. They got two championships in the 70s and three in the 90s:  

    • Super Bowl VI: The Cowboys throttled the Miami Dolphins, 24-3.
    • Super Bowl XII: Known as the most-watched Dallas Super Bowl, Super Bowl XII saw the Cowboys playing against the Denver Broncos. More than 100 million viewers watched the matchup from home while a sellout crowd flocked the stadium. Dallas won the game against Denver, 27-10.
  • Super Bowl XXVII: In 1993, the Dallas Cowboys embarrassed the Buffalo Bills, 52-17.
  • Super Bowl XXVIII: The Dallas Cowboys once again dominated the Buffalo Bills during their 1994 matchup, where the Cowboys secured another championship for two consecutive seasons. The final score was a lopsided 30-13. 
  • Super Bowl XXX: The 90s were a great decade for the Cowboys. They won another championship when they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17.

Derek Carr set up Las Vegas’ first touchdown with a 32-yard quarterback scramble, which was his longest run since his rookie year. 

Meanwhile, the Cowboys kept their playoff hopes alive after QB Dak Prescott converted a fourth-down sneak by the width of an index to set up placekicker Dan Bailey’s go-ahead 19-yard field goal. 

QB Derek Carr of the Raiders fumbled the ball inches from the goal line with 31 seconds remaining, leading to Dallas’ victory, 20-17.
