Colts vs. Jets: Highlights and Past Stats

Week 3

Line: Indianapolis -11.5

Over/Under: 44

Result: Colts 36, Jets 7

The 0-2 New York Jets flew into Indianapolis to play the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts were playing for their second win in a row after defeating the Vikings last week. Indy’s defense ranked as one of the NFL’s toughest in the first few weeks, allowing an average of 208 yards per game.

As reported on some NFL podcasts, the Colts lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1. In the loss to the Jags, the Colts nearly doubled their yardage.

Costly mistakes, however, included four turnovers and going 2-for-5 in the red zone.

The Colts galloped back in Week 2 when Indianapolis scored 28 unanswered points. They also doubled Minnesota in yardage and first downs.

In Week 2, the Colts forced Vikings QB Kirk Cousins to throw three interceptions while allowing only 113 passing yards.

Indianapolis had one of the NFL’s top offensive lines. The team started rookie RB Jonathan Taylor in its second game due to Marlon Mack being out for the season. Taylor recorded his first 100-yard game and a TD.

Among the 32 NFL teams, the Jets’ rock-bottom rankings included:

  • 30th in passing yards
  • 31st in rushing

The NYJ scored an average of 15 points leading up to Week 3. They also had a 3-13 record during their last 16 road games.

New York lost at home 31-13 versus San Francisco during week 2. Jets QB Sam Darnold went 21 for 32 pass attempts, threw for 179 yards, and tossed one touchdown.

TE Frank Gore led the NYJ with 63 rushing yards, while WR Braxton Berrios made a career-high 59 yards and scored his first career touchdown.

The Jets’ wide receivers Breshad Perriman (ankle), Jamison Crowder (hamstring), Denzel Mims (hamstring), and RB Le’Veon Bell (hamstring) missed the game versus Indianapolis due to injuries.

New York also played without starting tackle George Fant.

WR Braxton Berrios and WR Chris Hogan needed to step up versus Indy.

Meanwhile, the Jets’ defense was also struggling. They lost C.J. Mosley and Jamal Adams during the offseason.

In Week 1, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen had a big game against New York, and the Jets’ defense gave up an 80-yard TD pass in the first play against the 49ers in Week 2.

Colts vs. Jets: How to Bet on Games

Here are some of the types of bets you can place in Jets vs. Colts matchups:

Over/Under: This is also known as a totals bet. A number projects the total number of points the two teams will score in the game.

Moneyline: This straight-up (SU) bet requires the bettor to pick the match’s winner or loser.

Live Betting: This option lets you make a bet after the game’s opening kickoff has been aired on networks such as CBS and during different stages of the matchup.

Prop Bets: A proposition bet can be on a specific event during a game. However, it’s more often on an individual player. For example, you could bet on whether the New England Patriots or the Houston Texans will score first.

Point Spread: It’s a popular bet in many pro leagues like the NBA, MLB, NHL, and NFL. It’s determined by the number of points by which the team either wins or loses.

A minus sign indicates the favorite, and a plus sign indicates the underdog. In this example:

Atlanta Falcons -7 vs. Los Angeles Rams +7

The Falcons are favored to win the match by a touchdown, while the Rams are 7-point underdogs.

Parlays: You must win each bet’s parts or “legs” to win the parlay bet. For example, you want to place a 3-leg parlay bet featuring the Las Vegas Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, and Tennessee Titans. To win, you should ensure that your picks are correct.
