NFL Odds Predictions – Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers
What conclusions or predictions can one draw from the NFL odds currently in swing on the bout between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, which have the Hawks tipped as the seven-point dogs? Keeping in mind they came through as the four-point dogs with a 24-23 win over the New England Patriots last weekend and as such must be brimming with confidence.
The Seahawks just beat one of the better NFL teams this season but for some reason the odds makers aren't buying what they are selling, tipping them as the seven-point dogs ahead of their clash against the 49ers. (A side incidentally that is after an embarrassing and unmemorable 26-3 defeat to the New York Giants.)
The Seahawks rallied in the fourth quarter to upstage Tom Brady and arguably the best offense in the NFL. Somebody forgot to tell Russell Wilson he wasn't supposed to be the star of the show as he blithely helped his side to 14 points and the stunning victory in the last 8 minutes of the fourth quarter. Overall, Wilson went 16-27 for 293 yards and three touchdowns.
Where the 49ers are concerned, it's not that they lost to the New York Giants that is hard to come to terms with but rather the manner in which they did: without putting up much of a fight. It seems that they simply forgot to show up for their bout with the Giants (or perhaps they thought it was a bye week?) as they succumbed to a 26-3 blowout at home in a game that marked the rematch of last season's NFC Championship game and stands in complete contrast to their previous accounts, particularly their last two games in which they blew the opposition 71-6 combined.
NFL odds and predictions : One conclusion is that the Seahawks are being severely underestimated, yet again. Going into this game the 49ers are installed as the favorites, which is a clear sign that the odds makers are dismissing last week's outcome as an anomaly. A one-off. Which may well be the case, but, at the same time, can the impressive Hawks be ignored so? Not really, they can more or less match the 49ers as the Giants did last week and therefore NFL Fans looking to back the Hawks could do no worse than backing them to cover the seven-point spread, at the very least.
