NCAA Football Betting: Conference Championship Weekend

by SPORTSBETTING.COM staff | December 4 2009

The final strokes on the 2009 NCAA regular season are here‚ as we head into Conference Championship weekend...and that means NCAA Bowl season is also on the horizon.

Florida Gators vs. Alabama Crimson Tide
The granddaddy on the Week 14 schedule features the No. 1 Florida Gators and the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide‚ who will play for the Southeastern Conference championship and a berth in the BCS title game.

Aiming for back-to-back national title game appearances, Florida opened as a 4.5-point favorite at online sportsbooks‚ but sports bettors weighed on and the verdict so far has been a clear decision for the Gators, as SPORTSBETTING.com is reporting 75% of the sports betting public has bet on Florida.

The Over/Under is set at 41.

Looking at some of the betting trends for this one‚ the Gators have a mark of 2 Overs‚ 7 Unders and 1 push.

Alabama has also showed a significant "Under" trend in this situation, as they have recorded 3 Overs and 12 Unders in their last 15 starts vs. fellow SEC teams. Also, 'Bama has only 3 Overs while hitting 8 Unders in their last 11 when an underdog of 6-points or less.

Moneyline bettors are getting a little action down on an Alabama straight up win‚ but the moneyline action still favors Florida. The Tide are listed at +195 and so far online sportsbooks are reporting 30 of the volume on them.

Looking ahead‚ Florida is the odds-on favorite in futures betting to take the BCS championship at +100 while Alabama is +233.

Longhorns vs. Cornhuskers
Depending on the result of the Big 12 title game‚ one of the teams may or may not be headed to the BCS title game.

The Texas Longhorns currently sit third in the BCS rankings and they could book a ticket to Pasadena on January 7 if they win this Saturday.

The Longhorns can't look ahead to January though as their potential championship game spot is dependent on many factors‚ including Saturday's game against the No. 22 Nebraska Cornhuskers-Texas is a 14-point favorite with a Total of 44 and is +125 to win a national title.

Texas hasn't been a bettor's best friend in the month of December however‚ going 2-6 ATS in its last eight played in the final month of the year.

Nebraska is a big +450 on the moneyline and could be worth a gander seeing as they are 15-5 SU in their last 20 games.

Bearcats vs. Panthers
Saturday's Big East meeting between the No. 5 Cincinnati Bearcats and the No. 15 Pittsburgh Panthers won't be a conference championship per se but there will be BCS implications-the winner will get an invite to a BCS bowl.

Cincy is in consideration for the BCS title‚ currently listed as a +1500 longshot to win it all.

In regards to this Saturday‚ the Bearcats are favored by 2-points and the Over/Under is at 58.

Cincinnati is 11-0 SU in their last 11 games while Pittsburgh is 9-2 SU in their last 11.

The Panthers are 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against conference opponents with 1 Over and 7 Unders‚ while the Bearcats are 11-0 SU and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Big East matchups.

Cincinnati is 6-2 SU and ATS in its last eight when favored by 2-points or less.

These should be three great battles‚ highlighting the final weekend before we head for Bowl season.
