NCAA Football Betting: Mississippi vs. South Carolina

by Chad Rogers | September 24 2009

Remember the controversy that arose when it came to light that South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier snubbed Florida's Tim Tebow in All-SEC team balloting before the season started?

The "Old Ball Coach" voted for Mississippi Rebels signal-caller Jevan Snead, who could give Spurrier a demonstration of his talent—Ole Miss plays a game in South Carolina against the Gamecocks tonight and is listed as a 4-point road fave with a Total of 53.

Online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.COM has Snead is listed at +1800 to win this year's Heisman and Ole Miss is currently ranked No. 4 in the AP poll and listed at +800 to win the SEC.

Looking at the betting trends, in South Carolina's last nine home games where a Total has been posted, it has taken the Under seven times.

The Rebels are a high ranked team and they have also been road warriors in their last nine road games going 8-1 against the spread.

NCAA Football Lines:
The Gamecocks are listed at +160 on the Money line and in their last 12 games when an underdog of 4-points or less are 2-10 straight up.

While ranked fourth in the nation according to the AP, Ole Miss has been atrocious in its last 16 games when favored by 4-points or less, going an abysmal 1-13-2 ATS and it has failed to grab an ATS win in its last 10 games going 0-8-2 ATS.

Online betting stats show the sports betting public is putting their money on Ole Miss, tipping the scale their way at a 73% clip.

NCAA Football Betting: Missouri vs. Nevada
Ranked as high as No. 3 at one point last season, the Missouri Tigers have not enjoyed as much favor with voters in 2009, staying mostly on the periphery of the Top 25 with Honorable Mentions save for a 25 ranking back in the Week 1 AP poll.

Still, Mizzou is undefeated three games into the season and if they keep it up, you have to figure they'll eventually crack the Top 25 again—the Tigers are currently listed at +2000 to win the Big 12 conference and +8000 to win the BCS title.

Mizzou can add another win if it can defeat the winless Nevada Wolf Pack on Friday and is listed as 7-point road faves with an Over/Under of 59.5.

The two teams met last year in Missouri and the Tigers destroyed the 'Pack, covering as 26-point faves in a 69-17 victory; the combined score of 86 went well Over the Total of 69.

In the Tigers' last 13 road games, they have gone 10-3 against the spread and have matched their ATS record on the Total, taking 10 Overs and 3 Unders.

In the Wolf Pack's last eight games when listed as underdogs of 8-points or less, they have taken 6 Unders.

The week is drawing to a close and two college football games in two nights is a great way to close things off.
